Teachers and Staff,
Welcome back from the BHS PTO! I hope you all had a wonderful summer.
As most of you are aware, the PTO plays a big part at Bellaire High School. It brings parents, teachers and staff together to benefit both the students and the campus. One of the largest items in our budget is Teacher Grants. Since we began funding these grants in 1996, we have awarded over $320,000! Along with everyday classroom essentials we have upgraded software and classroom equipment, brought in speakers and teacher instructors, as well as purchased welding and sewing machines. A few years ago with our grants we paid for 10 new Smartboards and reserved funds to upgrade the auditorium.
When completing your Teacher Grant request please remember the following requirements:
- Applicants must be BHS PTO members in order to qualify for a grant.
- If applicable, requests need to have already gone through the appropriate department funding process.
- All items purchased shall become property of Bellaire High School.
- Individual names should not be included on any of the items requested.
- Team Uniform requests will NOT be considered.
Since the program’s inception in 1996, over $328,000 has been awarded to projects that are creative and impact our student population. These grants are offered up to a maximum amount of $3,000. Larger requests must be submitted to the general PTO for consideration.
If you have an innovative idea for your classroom, we encourage you to apply. Any questions on the Teacher Grant process you can contact Gary Zimmerman at glzhouston@aol.com.
Applications are submitted online here. The deadline to apply is Oct. 23rd.
At the same time, I would encourage all of you to join the PTO. It only costs $5 for teachers and staff. We would love to have all the teachers and staff be a part of this worthwhile organization.
Again, welcome back and we hope you all have a great year,
