TEACHER GRANTS

The Bellaire High School PTO uses a grant system to provide funds to teachers. Monetary grants to teachers may be used for supplies, equipment, and other items which have a direct impact on the quality of education for our students.

Every fall and spring APPLICATIONS are distributed to teachers for the grant requests. Requested amounts must be under $3,000. Requests above that amount are submitted to the entire PTO body. Grant applications detail the cost of items requested and how the grant will benefit the students. The Teacher Grant Committee decides how PTO grant money will be disbursed.

FALL 2009

We are pleased to award $16,000.00 for the Fall 2009 Grant Cycle:

• $2650.00 to Michael Kramer/GOlf and Basketball, for equipment and uniforms.
• $3000.00 to Trey Hermann, Robert Curtis, Damion Hopkins, Joe Leagans and John Henry Mills/Football, for uniforms.
• $2500.00 to Trey Sisson/Health/Football/Track, for video equipment.
• $1850.00 to Marcellars Mason, Duncan Iannucci and Greg Menephee/Wrestling, for equipment.
• $3000.00 to Sanja Korman/Dance, for new mirrors.
• $3000.00 to Linda Hopson/Newspaper and Journalism, for video equipment

FALL 2008

We are pleased to award $7832.00 for the Fall 2008 Grant Cycle:

• $460.00 to Michael Clark/Social Studies, for Nikon cameras and memory.
• $250.00 to Cindi Denman/Dance, for a sound system for the Belles.
• $700.00 to Patricia Edaburn/Social Studies, for pysical/political continent maps.
• $2458.00 to Uma Ghosh/Science for TV, AV cart air table and lab equipment.
• $3000.00 to Marcellars/Wrestling for uniforms and equipment.
• $964.00 to Chu Chao Tsai/Foreign Language for dictionaries, chair and literature organizer

Over $206,800 has been distributed by the PTO Teacher Grant Program since its inception in 1996.
